Care and Concern |

Music Music is meant to glorify God and spiritually benefit the congregation. It reinforces lectionary texts and liturgical action, and with it we reach out to the community. We make full use of the hymnal. Instrumental groups perform at the 10:30 AM Eucharistic service on an occasional basis. We welcome new choir members. If you love to sing, please come and share your talents with us! Our Minister of Music, Dr. Seung-Hee Cho, earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music. She is the winner of several awards and has accompanied many other choirs, small ensembles and soloists. Parishioners and a gifted choir member occasionally compose original works for the choir and congregation to sing. Carol singing is popular near Christmas. Each year, an Advent Lessons and Music service draws a large congregation. After the luncheon that follows, the congregation sings favorite Christmas carols accompanied by the Redeemer Instrumentalists. The organ combines a classic pipe instrument built in 1907 with a technologically advanced digital synthesizer. Redeemer acquired the older instrument in 1970. Although this fine organ was periodically repaired, it eventually had to be upgraded. In 1996 Redeemer purchased a 52 stop Rodgers instrument equipped with a computer that generates 16,000 sounds electronically. Nine ranks of pipes preserved from the older instrument provide the remaining sounds. |
